Recipe: How to make Healthy Kruidnoten (Dutch Holiday Cookies)

Hi all!

Today I am showing you how to make healthy kruidnoten. These are small Dutch cookies we eat in the Netherlands during a holiday called Sinterklaas. This has nothing to do with Christmas or Santa Claus. It’s a complete different holiday. You can watch the video to learn how to make the healthy version of these kruidnoten. Healthy Kruidnoten recipe


  • 120 grams of spelt flour
  • 80 grams of almond flour
  • 50 grams of Stevia powder (in the video I only used like maybe only 10 grams max, so really use it to taste)
  • 5 teaspoons of Spiced Biscuit herbs (Koek & speculaas kruiden) I’m not sure if these can be found in other countries besides The Netherlands, so click here to find an easy recipe to make the herb mixture yourself from scratch.
  • 75 ml of liquid coconut oil
  • Milk to make it stick together. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more if neccesary (I used unsweetened almond milk)
  • A dash of Vanilla extract to taste
  • A  sprinkle of salt
  • Honey (optional)

Making the Kruidnoten:

Start by preheating the oven to 175°C or 350°F.  In a medium bowl, stir together the flours, powdered Stevia, the Spiced biscuit herbs mixture and the coconut oil. Then use your hands to mix al the ingredients together. Once it’s all combined, add the salt, vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of milk. Add more milk if the dough is still to dry. The dough need to stick together. Take a little piece of the dough and roll this into a small ball. Use your hand to press the ball together so that it becomes a bit flat. Or you can make cute figures out of it. You can even make a Kruidnoten puppet like I did in the video. The possibilities are endless. Place all your kruidnoten on a greased cookie sheet  and place them in the oven for only 15 minutes. Make sure to let the kruidnoten cool down completely before eating them. Enjoy!!

Recipe: Koek & Speculaaskruiden (Spiced Bisuit Herbs)

In The Netherlands these can be bought all mixed up in a jar by the name Koek & Speculaaskruiden. However, if you live somewhere else in the world you’d probably have to mix these yourself. Don’t worry it’s super easy and it adds an amazing Holiday touch to a lot of dishes.


  • 30 grams of Cinnamon powder
  • 10 grams of Nutmeg powder
  • 10 grams of Clove powder
  • 5 grams of Anise powder
  • 3 grams of Ginger powder
  • 3 grams of white pepper powder

How to make it:
Mix all of these together and put it in an airtight container or bag. That’s it!

How to measure yourself?

Measuring yourself is very easy, but sometimes it can be tricky to find the exact place of where to measure. First of all you need to get some sort of measuring tape. Once you’re ready to go simply look on the image below and measure yourself on the exact places where the lines are. Hold the one end of your measuring tape with one hand, wrap it around your body part until it reaches the measuring tape in your first hand. Then read the number on your measuring tape right where the two parts meet and that’s how many centimeters or inches it is.

Make sure to not measure yourself too often. Once a month is more then enough. You don’t want to become obsessed with numbers. So enjoy have fun with it and let me know whether you’d like more printables in the future.

3 dagen NO sugar challenge

Een suikerverslaving. Ja, het bestaat echt! Ik heb onlangs een artikel geschreven over de gevolgen van suiker op je lichaam (lees hier het artikel over suiker). Maar wat nou als je zo erg gewend bent om suiker te eten en je het gevoel hebt dat niet meer zonder kan. Sommigen mensen zeggen echt suiker nodig te hebben om de dag door te komen. Dit kan een stukje chocolade zijn, een paar schepjes suiker in je koffie of het toetje na het avondeten. Als jij jezelf hierin herkend heb je een grote kans dat ook JIJ een suikerverslaving hebt.
